Re: Adding 2nd processor to ML350 G5 Hello Mickey, While upgrading to 2nd processor, it has been seen that the server will not work, unless you install the new processor in the first slot.

Hi peoples I have a HP DL380 G8 that currently only has one CPU installed, E2609 V2.

There is a red light on the server which only clears once the CPU is removed.

I have 2 16 gb slots of memory and balance this with one in each channel A, prior to installing the CPU.

I think I am doing it right, but clearly I am missing something.

I have tried the CPU in slot 1 and it powers up fine, so it doesnt appear to be a CPU issue.

Any advice is really appreciated, cheers Stryder Pretty sure the processors would work just fine but not sure if the heat sinks would be compatible.

Its always a sticky one this because if a drive goes they cant say its because you messed about with it.

Personally I would probably assume it doesnt have a warranty any more.

I good read through the conditions should answer your questions though.

How can they honour a warranty if they dont have the parts to repair.
